For everyday:
~ Don't let the water run unnecessarily, like while brushing your teeth.
~ Reduce your waste by using a refillable water container instead of buying bottled water. Reusing grocery bags & lunch containers will also make a big difference.
~ It can't be said enough to recycle your waste. Some townships make it easy & offer rewards for recycling. If your trash been is considerably more empty than your recycle bin, then you are doing well.
~ Turn off lights (which have been replaced by CFLs!) when not in use & unplug chargers & appliances when not in use.
~ Now is the time of year to become a "Locavore", one who eats food harvested within 100 miles of their home. Better yet, get planting your own veggies this season. It is easier than you think & soooo delicious!
Car Maintenance:
~
Keep tires properly inflated, tune it up regularly & use cruise control
when you can. Bundle your errands into single trips geographically centered.
All will help reduce gas consumption.
House & Garden tips:
~
Plant trees, shrubs, perennials & annuals. Check your local townships for
free trees & shrubs!~ Remove weeds by hand & check out the extremely informative website below. Howard Garrett is a radio host of the The Dirt Doctor & has volumes of info to help you develop a more natural environment. http://www.dirtdoctor.com/

A tip close to my heart - host a garage sale or shop at one. Donate items that
you don't use or need. People will refurbish, reuse & recycle! Remember
upcycling is fun & rewarding!
Check out my past blogs to help with some of
these Earth Day ideas. Just type in some key words: garden, vegetables, trees, garden, plant, perennials, annuals, garage,
bats & upcycle. Let's make Earth Day last all year!!
