This is especially important this year because revisions have been made. Due to warming climate changes you may be able to plant specimens that never fell in your zone wheel house before! Understanding the number of days your plants are exposed to certain heat conditions is another consideration for the gardener. The plantings & annuals we purchase each year are an expense & it helps to get it right. The website below from the American Horticultural Society explains very well the effects heat can have on plantings in the wrong zone. Click on the heat zone map or heat zone finder to find the AHS zone for your area. Many plantings are being coded now to include these findings.
